Gift Aid FAQs
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows charities to reclaim the tax that you have already paid on your donations.
How does it work?
For every donation you give, we get an extra 25% from the government. So if you give £4, we can get an additional £1. A £20 gift will be worth £25 – with the extra £5 coming from the government. It also counts for donations you’ve made in the past, up to four years ago.
Are there any hidden charges?
No. Gift Aid is taken from tax you’ve already paid, so there’s no charge to you. It doesn’t affect your tax status either.
Am I eligible to give Gift Aid?
You are eligible if you are a UK tax payer and the total tax you pay in that tax year is at least equal to the amount we can reclaim on your donations.
What do I have to do?
Simply, fill in the form above so that we have a Gift Aid declaration from you.
There is no extra paperwork – we deal with the tax office to reclaim the tax. All we need is your form. The declaration gives us authority to reclaim tax from HMRC on your donations.
Do I have to fill in the form for every donation?
No. You only have to complete the form above once.
Your Gift Aid status will be saved for the next time you donate and it will also cover all donations you have made to us in the past 4 years.
I would like to Gift Aid to all my recent donation
Your Gift Aid declaration (form above) will cover donations you have made in the past four years to us, as well as all your future donations.
What should I do if I move house, or change my name?
Please let us know if any of your circumstances change so that we can keep your record up-to-date.
Send us an email with your details to: [email protected]
How do I cancel my declaration?
You can cancel your declaration at any time by sending an email with your details to: [email protected]
Simply inform us that you are no longer a UK taxpayer, and we will stop reclaiming tax on your donations immediately.
What if I am not a UK taxpayer?
The Gift Aid scheme is unique to the UK. If you are not a UK taxpayer, you can still make a donation but your donation will not be eligible for Gift Aid.
